On Monday, September 26, ITB-Swiss AG hosted the 13th PIM Practical Day. The event took place in the beautiful premises of the GDI Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute in Zurich/Rüschlikon. Our CEO, Urs Marti, showed the interested audience various mobile use cases in his closing presentation and how these were implemented as apps for clients.

The GDI is a place we always enjoy visiting, whether as a guest, a technician, or a speaker. This Monday, the atmosphere was particularly good. We at ieffects were warmly welcomed as participants directly at the reception, and there was a delicious muesli with an Italian ristretto right away.

The technology was checked beforehand – which, in the case of GDI, is the crème de la crème and a welcome attraction for tech enthusiasts like us. The ITB-Swiss crew was perfectly prepared and greeted visitors with anticipation for the day. We immediately had good conversations and felt very welcome.

ITB-Swiss develops standard software for retailers and manufacturers. The core of their business is a newly revised PIM called MeDaPro. The interface can either be installed as a client on a PC or now also operated as a cloud-based solution from “everywhere”. This web application is presumably a response to the last two years of home office. And it can be said that the web interface was designed with great attention to detail.

Various aspects were highlighted at the conference – on the one hand, it ranged from security, to data consistency, to a webshop project, which was demonstrated using the example of TST GPR, a manufacturer and retailer of bikes.

Mobile Apps as Tools for the Future

Mobile apps are key when it comes to customer loyalty. “The younger generation, in particular, grew up with smartphones. Just look on the bus or train”, explains Urs Marti, CEO of ieffects ag. “These people are used to native apps and expect modern, appealing application experiences”. This is also shown by our experience with customers who use a native app. The share of orders is rapidly shifting to mobile. “We expect equilibrium in 2025”, Urs Marti is certain. The presentation received great applause, and some questions from the participants could be answered.

Our farewell was sweetened with a delicate Frey chocolate praline. Thus, we traveled home with a good feeling and much anticipation for the next exciting app projects.
